Teaching

WRRC offers certificate courses during summers on gender-related topics for students, faculty and interested women from the civil society.

Currently WRRC offers three courses “Women in Development” for the 02 years Masters degree, “Gender Youth and Development” & “Citizenship Education & Community Engagement Programme/Active Citizenship for the 04 year Bachelors programs. Successful completion of these courses is mandatory for the degree.

WRRC in collaboration with British Council also introduced a 03 CH course titled ‘British Council Citizenship Education and Community Engagement Program - Active Citizen General Education Course’ for all undergraduate students from September, 2016. This course is offered to different departments on rotation basis.
At its inception, WRRC offered various gender oriented courses for students, faculty and interested women from the civil society. Some of these courses are listed below:

  1. Women and Development

    An awareness raising core course, which sensitized graduating women, to their role in personal, social and national development.

  2. Women in Management

    This course highlighted the positive aspects of management style for women and is in line with modern approaches to management.

  3. Self Esteem and Mental Health

    An applied course that enabled students to undertake the exercise of enhancing self-esteem and reduction of anxieties to improve their mental health.

  4. Status of Women in Pakistan

    An advanced seminar course offered for PhD students.       

MPhil in Higher Education Leadership and Management (MPhil-HELM)
Women Research and Resource Centre initiated the MPhil-HELM program in collaboration with Institute of Education, University of London, UK in 2007 and classes commenced at Fatima Jinnah Women University on October 16, 2007. This specialized professional MPhil program aims to build a culture for women that will enable them to take on leadership roles in Higher Education in the 21st century. The program is intended for mid-career level women who are planning to take up positions of informed decision-making that may impact policy planning. MPhil-HELM comprises of two elements:

  • Eight taught courses, each carrying 03 CH:

    • Gender & Educational Culture (Module 1: Course 2)
  2. Researching Gender (Module 2)
    • Research Methodology (Module 2: Course 1)
    • Feminist Research Methods (Module 2: Course 2)
  3. Gender, Leadership &Management (Module 3)
    • Women as Educational Managers (Module 3: Course 1)
    • Organizational Management (Module 3: Course 2)
  4. Higher Education in the 21st Century(Module 4)
    • Higher & Professional Education (Module 4: Course 1)
    • Pedagogical Demands of Higher Education (Module 4: Course 2)
  5. Research-based thesis

    The thesis carries 6 credits.
