Brief Introduction: The Department of Anthropology at FJWU takes a theoretically driven, empirically-informed approach through its comprehensive curriculum and advances practical understanding of human diversity and commonality across the globe and throughout the long span of human existence. Anthropology these days has become a rising discipline and is being taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at several universities across Pakistan. Anthropology is the study of human behaviour and the exploration of what it means to be human, ranging from the study of culture and social relations to human biology and evolution to languages to music, art, and architecture, and to vestiges of human habitation.

The vision of the Department is to be an academic unit creating and promoting an atmosphere of academic freedom, scholarly competence, and vibrant research to recognize human differences and similarities that could eventually lead towards the formation of a better world.
Mission
It is the mission of the Department of Anthropology to provide a stimulating and challenging curriculum that will help students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diversity and complexity of human experience culturally, biologically, and historically. It is also our mission to engage in innovative anthropological research and scholarship that contributes to our understanding of what it means to be human.
