Visit to Tulane University (2013) under Innovations in Civic Participation, ICP Project (2013)

  • Women Research & Resource Centre (Fatima Jinnah Women University) in collaboration with Innovations in Civic Participation, ICP (USA-PAK Civic Engagement Project) and Tulane University, New Orleans, USA, participated in a project titled “Civic Engagement”. The project focused on the following points:
  • Faculty/Staff/Students Exchange Program
  • Faculty and curriculum development
  • Awareness raising workshops at community level
  • Providing community services to the disadvantaged segment of the society

TOTs would further help in training the students to work as volunteer for the society.
Under this project, Dr. Humaira Ahmad, (Head, WRRC) Ms. Farzana Akhtar (Assistant Registrar, Academics) and Ms. Mehreen (MPhil Scholar, Department of English) visited Tulane University, New Orleans, USA (February 28, 2013-March 10, 2013), where they presented the database of community work conducted by students of Fatima Jinnah Women University.

Community work by students of Fatima Jinnah Women University under WRRC and Innovations in Civic Participation, ICP Project (2013)

  • Women Research & Resource Centre (Fatima Jinnah Women University) in collaboration with Innovations in Civic Participation, ICP (USA-PAK Civic Engagement Project) participated in a project titled “Civic Engagement”. Under this project WRRC organized lectures, sessions and community work at Kashana Welfare Trust and Afiyat Old Homes, Rawalpindi. In Kashana Trust, students taught the destitute children subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology etc. gave lectures on personal hygiene and also enhanced their computer skills whereas at Afiyat Old Homes, the students spent time with destitute old people. The delegation from Tulane University & Dr. Humaira Ahmad (Head, WRRC) appreciated the efforts of the volunteer students and the service they had provided to the community.

Community Work under the Supervision of WRRC (2013)

  • Community work, a mandatory degree requirement for all undergraduates of FJWU, came under the supervision of Women Research & Resource Centre on February 21, 2013. The total duration of community work is 20 contact hours for each student of the university.

Center for Psychological Research (CPR)

  • The materials for psychological research were with WRRC from 2009-2013. WRRC was responsible for administrating the test for all kinds of psychological research.

 (4) Networking/International Linkages

2017

  • An MOU has been signed with the Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois, USA. This MOU focuses on collaboration between FJWU and NIU in the following areas:
    • exchange of faculty and teaching staff
    • exchange of students
    • academic publication and materials exchange
    • joint academic conferences
    • Collaboration in academics and research is also in the pipeline with Ball State University, Muncie, IN.
  • WRRC participated in a project titled US-PAK Civic Engagement Project under Innovations in Civic Participation,  ICP & Tulane University (2013).
  • Memorandum of Understanding between Fatima Jinnah Women University, Pakistan and University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka (June, 2012)

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Kelaniya, Dalugama, Sri Lanka, and Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. The program of activities ensuing from this MOU will be implemented by the Centre for Gender Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, and Women Research & Resource Centre (WRRC) of Fatima Jinnah Women University. Both parties wished to promote dissemination of quality learning and development of understanding through cultural and scholarly interaction between the two universities.

  • Linkage with Institute of Education, University of London

    WRRC has linkage with Institute of Education, University of London, UK, particularly in initiating the MPhil-HELM program begun in 2007.

  • Linkage with Glasgow University UK

    The Centre successfully established a link program between Fatima Jinnah Women University and Glasgow University UK with the help of British Council under DFID Program (2001).

Donation Campaigns - Women Research & Resource and Centre
Visit to Dar-ul-Afiyat (June 26, 2014)
Dar-ul-Afiyat, a government organization, is located in Muslim Town, Khanna Road, Rawalpindi. When the staff of WRRC visited on June 26, 2014, there were 19 male and 3 female senior citizens residing in this organization. WRRC staff interacted with the senior citizens and officials of the institute and distributed food items and medicines according to their requirement. The staff of Dar-ul-Afiyat and senior citizens residing at Afiyat old home appreciated the efforts of WRRC, Fatima Jinnah Women University.

Visit to Kashana Welfare Trust (June 29, 2014)
Kashana Welfare Trust is a social welfare trust and works for children from dysfunctional families and orphans. Ms. Farzana Akhter (Deputy Registrar, FJWU) along with the staff of WRRC visited the Trust on June 29, 2014 and donated wooden benches, sports items and a first aid box to the children of Kashana Trust. The staff of WRRC appreciated the efforts of the Trust and the service that the Trust is providing to children from dysfunctional families. The staff of Kashana Welfare Trust appreciated the efforts of Fatima Jinnah Women University.
