PhD Islamic Studies

Attendance: Full Time
Program Duration: Minimum 3 years
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must hold an MS/MPhil degree in Islamic Studies or an equivalent qualification with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 from an HEC-recognized university. Candidates are required to qualify the departmental admission test with at least 50% marks or meet the criteria for GAT (General), as per university policy.
Degree Completion Requirements
To qualify for the award of a PhD degree in Islamic Studies, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Completion of advanced coursework as prescribed by the department.
  2. Development and approval of a comprehensive research proposal.
  3. Conduct of original, independent research contributing to the field of Islamic Studies.
  4. Submission and successful defense of a doctoral dissertation in accordance with HEC regulations.
  5. Compliance with publication and academic standards set by the university/HEC.

HEC Credit Hours Requirement
As per HEC guidelines, PhD programs require coursework (where applicable) followed by a substantial research dissertation.

Maqasid al-Shariah (Philosophy of Islamic Law), Modern Trends in Tafseer Literature, Hadith Methodology and Literature, Applied Research in Islamic Sciences, Usul al-Fiqh (Advanced Studies), Muslim Historiography, Modern Trends in Seerah Writing
