FJWU’s grading System is based on “Marking by the Curve Rules “as is practice in Leading Universities abroad. Grades are allocated to a student according to her performance in any course. Grades are as follows: |

Student with a GPA below 2.5 & above 1.75 is on probation.

Postgraduate Students of final year have to complete their credit hours (66), required CGPA (2.5) and Thesis (6 cr. Hr’s) before their convocation to get the degree in time. Otherwise as per university policy degree would be awarded with next session.

Undergraduate Students B. Sc. (SE) of final year have to complete their credit hours (153), and undergraduate Students (BCA) of final year have to complete their credit hours (158), required CGPA (2.5) and Thesis (6 cr. Hr’s) before their convocation to get the degree in time. Otherwise as per university policy degree would be awarded with next session.

Result of Midterm & Final term once submitted by the Instructor to Controller’s Office and posted for students will not be changed.

If a student is unable to take mid-term or final exams, the case has to be referred to the controller Examination’s office in writing. The Instructor in this regard can take no independent decision.

All applications for having missed an exam to be submitted within the exam week.

The status of a course could be that of non-Credit if the student states it at the time of registration. In all other cases the status cannot be changed.

Probation |

Students with GPA below 2.5. and above 1.75 are put on probation. They are allowed to repeat the courses as per the university policy.

A student must repeat those courses of the previous semester (s) in which he had secured the lowest grade i.e. ‘F’ only.

Students having a GPA of below 1.75 are dropped from the university. .

Students on probation are allowed to continue with a lesser course load.

Dropping a Course |

Student can drop a course with the recommendation of their program coordinator and the approval of Admission Committee. W (Withdrawn) grade will be given if the course is dropped before the midterm. If the course is dropped after the mid term it will be graded WF.(withdrawn with failure)

I (Incomplete) grade is given when a student could not appear in the final examination for medical or other reasons (emergencies). The course graded I has to be completed failing which the course will be grade F.

Improvement of Grade |
|
- A student must repeat those courses in which he had secured ‘F’.
- Repetition of ‘D’ grade(s) is be allowed only if; the CGPA is less than the degree requirement.
- Only improved grade will be computed in the CGPA. For repeated courses R would be written on transcript.

- Multiply the number of credit hours by the number of grade points to get the number of quality points for each course.
- Total the credit hour column.
- Total the quality point column.
- Divide the quality points by the credit hours to obtain the GPA.
- To calculate the Cumulative GPA, divide the number of quality points earned by the total number of hours attempted.
