Director QEC's Message Quality in higher education underscores both progressive social transformation and development of sustainable technologies. This is specifically important for developing countries like Pakistan which need to go a long way for making a shift from acquisition to capabilities, both in terms of social policy reforms and promotion of indigenous technologies. Quality Assurance Cell (QEC) at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) is a body responsible for coordinating intra-University efforts to ensure constant and consistent value addition in both teaching and research activities. The initiative and status of QEC at FJWU owe to the enormous support and cooperation extended by Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The Competent Authority at FJWU, Prof. Dr. Saeeda Asadullah Khan, the worthy Vice Chancellor, is passionately concerned with promotion and maintenance of educational standards at FJWU and her kind patronage makes invaluable contribution to the efficient performance of QEC personnel. Higher education quality has been a serious concern across all academic departments since ever the inception of FJWU. The University’s optimization model essentially incorporates the constraints faced by the female youth of Pakistan, while always having quality higher education as the objective function. Indeed, quality is a universally dynamic process and it becomes all the more challenging for an intangible phenomenon like education. The quality measures at FJWU focus on the development of both cognitive and affective characteristic of the students, which together are expected to reflect in the behavioral characteristics of graduates as socially responsible citizens and promising professionals. Finally, the Master Plan of FJWU New Campus is expected to help realize the QEC vision which essentially requires expansion in both physical and human resources. In the New Campus, the QEC will graduate to the status of Quality Enhancement Directorate (QED), ready to take up new challenges accompanying the growth of academic and physical structures of FJWU. |
